The Eagle Scout Service Project demonstrates leadership by planning, developing, and leading others in a service project that benefits the community. Only 4% of all Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, making this the highest achievement in Scouting.
Emergency bucket kits designed for Northern Valley Central, a specialized school serving students with autism and developmental disabilities ages 3-21 across seven Bergen County communities.
Help provide emergency safety kits for students with special needs. Every donation brings us closer to our $5,000 goal.
100% of donations will be used to purchase emergency kit supplies from Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, and Uline as outlined in the project budget.
All donations received through this BSA-approved fundraising campaign will be used exclusively to purchase the 38 emergency kit items from verified vendors (Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, and Uline). Receipts and purchase records will be maintained for Boy Scout council review as required for Eagle Scout projects.
Specialized education for students with unique needs
Northern Valley Central serves students aged 3-21 with autism and developmental disabilities. Located at 200 Summit Street in Norwood, NJ, this facility provides tailored education plans and comprehensive therapies.
The school operates as part of the Northern Valley Regional High School District, serving seven Bergen County communities through programs including Valley Regional Programs, TIP, Little Tots, SLICE, and Summit.
Ages 3-21 with autism spectrum disorders requiring individualized support plans and sensory-friendly environments.
Existing emergency plans do not address sensory overload, communication barriers, and unique needs during extended lockdowns.
25 specialized emergency kits will provide immediate resources for teachers, first responders, and students during crisis situations.
Anand G. Vaghasia - Eagle Scout Candidate
I am a Life Scout from Troop 120 in the Northern New Jersey Council, Three Rivers District. This Eagle Scout service project represents the culmination of my Scouting journey, demonstrating leadership, planning, and community service skills developed through years of Scout experiences.
Managing all project aspects including $5,000 fundraising campaign, vendor negotiations, and coordination of 18 volunteers across four specialized teams.
Addressing real safety gaps for vulnerable students while creating a sustainable model for other schools to follow.
I co-founded Game Changers, a service club at my high school where general education students and athletes volunteer their time to engage with students from Northern Valley Central's special education programs. Every Saturday morning, our team visits the school to lead recreational activities, games, and one-on-one interactions.
Game Changers bridges the gap between typical high school students and those with autism and developmental disabilities. Our athletes learn patience, empathy, and communication skills while providing joy and social interaction for students who often face isolation.
Through Game Changers, I witnessed firsthand how these students respond to different environments and situations. I saw their unique needs, their challenges with sensory overload, and their reliance on visual communication tools. This experience made me realize that traditional emergency planning overlooks the specific requirements of students with special needs.
When I began planning my Eagle Scout project, the connection was clear. I wanted to use my Scouting skills to address the safety gaps I had observed through Game Changers, creating emergency kits specifically designed for the students I had grown to care about.

Checks deliveries against procurement spreadsheets, sorts items by category, and organizes supplies into color-coded bins. Works October 5, 2025 for approximately 4 hours.
Manages three assembly stations during the two-day build weekend. Scouts rotate between medical/sanitation, sensory/communication, and food/water stations every 2-3 hours.
Inspects each completed bucket using master checklists, verifies expiration dates, confirms proper labeling, and seals buckets to prevent tampering.
Loads buckets onto transport carts, delivers to Northern Valley Central, and places kits in designated classroom locations per staff guidance.
Cost breakdown per emergency kit
Each emergency kit costs approximately $171 to assemble. This strategic allocation ensures maximum value while meeting all safety and accessibility requirements for students with special needs.
Strategic bulk purchasing from verified vendors achieves significant cost savings while ensuring product quality and consistency across all 25 kits.
Ordering 25 buckets at $11.50 each versus $14.00 individually saves $62.50. Similar savings achieved across all major product categories.
Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, and Uline chosen for reliability, bulk pricing, and product certification standards required for school environments.
All medical supplies are FDA-approved, food items are allergen-tested, and sensory tools meet durability requirements for classroom use.
